Barnton Silver Band is pleased to announce the appointment of Musical Director Brian Lamb at their recent Annual General Meeting.

Brian began playing cornet with Besses Boys Band, receiving lessons from the legendary Willie Wood. He joined Besses o’ th’ Barn Band, performing with artists such as Ifor James, Elgar Howarth, John Fletcher, John Mc Cabe and Andre Previn, and appearing in 2 National Finals at the Albert Hall.

At college Brian studied trumpet with David James and Rod Franks and piano with Sue Lloyd. Qualifying as a music teacher, he has been Head of Music in several schools around Manchester and has been responsible for a wide range of ensembles including the Glossop School Band.

Brian subsequently played for CWS Manchester, B.T. and Wingates Band, with whom he won the French Open and performed in another National Final in the Albert Hall.

Brian has conducted Stockport Silver, Burnage, Moston and Beswick, Golborne and Dobcross Youth Bands

Barnton Silver Band currently rehearses at Little Leigh Village Hall on Tuesday evenings from 8pm.  The band is currently seeking Tutti cornet, Euphonium, Eb and Bb Bass and Percussion.
